"The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard; he knew that lack of
respect for growing, living things soon led to lack of respect for humans, too."~ Luther Bear/Standing Bear
"Shootin’ From the Heart"
My truth I speak on this here day
You like it not and you walk away
But better alone am I in this Life
Then to be chasing false love laced with strife
I listen closely...I hear my Heart beat
Today all alone, I walk the streets
But all of me walks as I am complete
My Soul I sell not because it is so sweet
I know my Love and I know this Soul
And today I’m committed to be only whole
A new pretty face, yes, I am aware
And I walk away from the old addict’s dare
Embrace this Love, this fear, this unknown
To the heights and the depths, I will be flown
On the wings of an Eagle, ah yes, my Brother
I turn to Spirit because there is no other
So today I walk by myself, yes, alone
But in this solace my sins are atoned
I do let go of all false love and false hope
I will not be hung with dependency rope
I walk free, both heavy and light
But I walk free and I know this is right
I am the steward of this path called my Life
Be it alone or as husband and wife
But today I stand tall as I shoot from the Heart
I’m not looking back, yes, this is my new start
