Burn, baby, burn...Yes I want to burn so bright
But to get to that place of burnout, now that’s a scary sight
The challenge then, I believe, is to find that place of balance
“The Middle Path”, they call it, a place where all can dance
But life does daily remind me, this middle way is full of bends
And my job today is simply this: Let the guardrails be my friends
Perfection is not on this map, but rather “Process” is the word
And if I stay in life’s process, my message will be heard
I want to shine my light, yes, shine it bright and proud
And from the top of Mt. Everest, I want to shout it loud:
“Passion is our purpose, so lets go catch our dreams
Give me your hand, I’ll lift you up, together we’ll be a team”
And I need others, too, who’ll lift me when I’m stuck
Or perhaps to hold me tight when my plans just run amok
But I’ll not quit, no I won’t, I’m climbing everyday
Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, my passion leads my way
And what I’ve found I also need is just some time to rest
Time to just sit and think about the many ways I’m blessed
Balance sits not still for me, for it is always on the move
My counter then is simply this: just live in my passionate groove
So on this day I do proclaim, these words I shout to the sky
In between the times of rest come watch me soar and fly
Burnout is one nasty place but rustout is even worse
So I’ll live these words from my Muse...Yes, each and every verse
The mountain tops bring me joy, and the valleys are full of green
It is the in-between times that I recharge my passion machine
So share these words, I say, my friends, and pass them on to all
