I heard that old Prez wants a house up on the moon
Pardon my naiveté, but isn’t a bit too soon?
After all, we got people down here still livin’ on the streets
And far too many children who get far too little to eat
He says we are the pioneers, like those of the wild old West
Seems to be more like an ego-trip, just trying to be the best
Just think of the billions of dollars that surely will be spent
A denial of reality for the thousands who can’t pay rent
But then again, yes, with our focus on the sky
We can then tune out the children, and hear not their anguished cry
But maybe I’m just a liberal who loves my latte and tea
And therefore, Mr. Prez, I know that you just can’t hear me
Abuse is on the increase, as is addiction and divorce
But I guess these social issues are beyond the lunar course
And let’s watch the Wall Street frenzy, as the lively Dow does climb
No room for no humanity with only dollars on the mind
And I wonder in this election year, if this makes you look more bold
Sorry, Mr. President, but I believe a lie is being told
Before we head off for another world, let’s look into our Heart
‘Cause if we want a better place, that is where it starts
Seems that there must a hardness that forms up there in D.C.
So easy to be ego-driven and loose one’s identity
Then it is all about who can win the ego fight
No longer are we governed, then, by simply wrong or right

Yes, I heard that old Prez wants a house up on the moon
I’m sure it will be a white one, with Mars to follow soon
And as the plans go forward, there is a child that dies
Someday we’ll face the outcome of all these ego-driven lies….
